Yarrabilba Community Association
Lendlease may be the developers of the Yarrabilba estate but the are not the community which is made up of the residents and owners thoughout the suburb.
Earlier this year the Yarrabilba Community Association was born.
From their website :
Our home is the place of song – Yarrabilba, and we are all about getting everyone singing from the same page. Our team of locals works to foster social inclusion and a sense of community.
We’re proud of the rich history Yarrabilba; initially it was home to the Wangerriburra people whose language provides the name Yarrabilba. Following a period of European settlement, it was home to Camp Cable, a large American base during the Second World War. Following the decommissioning of the military base, it was used for silviculture before Lend Lease began developing the vibrant emerging community that we see today.
As the next verse of the Yarrabilba song is written, our vision is to be the voice of the residents of Yarrabilba. We want to become the primary focus of communal activities and support within Yarrabilba while protecting and promoting the common interest.
As we are in our formative stages, we are building greater links with residents and other community participants and beginning to host events. We plan to introduce markets and food events, movie nights, educational opportunities, safety workshops and ongoing consultative forums for the community to continue to have input to the direction of Yarrabilba Community Association support services.
One day, we hope to have a physical home which we can use as a base of operations and create a central hub of community activity.
